Prometheus, in Greek mythology and literature, is widely known and obviously for its many fascinating elements. Although there is a wide range of dissimilar stories told about Prometheus, the most dominant and popular one is told by Hesiod in his Theogony. According to Hesiod's account, Prometheus was the great Titan who defied the Greek gods and stole fire from Hephaestus for the use and aid of humanity. This act facilitated the progress of civilization. Ultimately, there are three main points to the various interpretations of Prometheus in literature and mythology. Prometheus was punished on behalf of Zeus for his transgression. Enraged beyond desperation, he hid the aid of human life; fire, exclusively due to Prometheus' deception. Ultimately, this led to the creation of Pandora; the production of all man's evils. Finally, the depiction of Prometheus is so vast that over the centuries people have popularized this myth in many different interpretations. Including those told by influential minds like Mary Shelley. The punishment that Prometheus received as a result of his theft of fire became a major theme of mythology. Now it is an extremely popular topic among the growing society and in ancient times. The old-fashioned myth tells the story of Zeus, king of the Olympian gods, who fights in a battle with the Titans. Thanks to Prometheus' power to see into the future, he chose to become an ally and fight alongside Zeus, knowing that he would win the great battle. When the Titans were all defeated, Zeus condemned them all to Tartarus, a place known for its hellish state. While Prometheus remained in Olympus with Zeus, he learned to create and prosper humanity; all until the day he stole fire from... middle of paper... and tricked Zeus into helping humanity thrive by the means of fire. For this he was punished and tortured, until he met the definitive mythological legend, the creation of Pandora, evil for all men. As the first woman to walk and live with “mortal humans,” she was easily compared to the more contemporary Eve. While giving painful pain to all men, she was the bearer of procreation and life and regeneration of humanity. The modern Prometheus is known to embody a “lone genius” who continues to improve the human form of life, but ultimately results in tragedy. Influential minds create these stories to maintain the popularity of these mythological literatures and to inform today's readers and their generation. The story of Prometheus and Pandora will continue to grow and expand as time passes and powerful minds compose greater stories.
