Stereotypes are assumptions about the characteristics of a particular group of people. These assumptions could be due to race, culture, country, community and religion. Women are not as intelligent as men. Men are strong and do all the work. Americans are tolerant but arrogant. Girls are not good at sports. Blacks are stronger than whites. Black people are criminals. The old ones are all very old-fashioned. All blonde women are stupid. Boys are messy and impure. Girls only care about physical appearance. Women always talk too much on the phone. All black people are lazy. Women are terrible drivers. Muslims are terrorists. These are some famous stereotypes that represent some commonly shared conventional beliefs about specific types of individuals or groups. Many people believe that stereotypes exist because they arise from truth, often stating, “If there's smoke, there's fire.” Although many people argue that stereotypes are based in truth, stereotypes are not based in truth because they are based on false assumptions, hasty generalizations, biased media reports, and a lack of cultural knowledge. Because he is not involved in criminal activities... middle of paper....... .R, Irteza. 2014. Web. 17 March 2014. .Unknown. "Examples of Stereotypes - Examples of Stereotypes."
