An apple a day keeps the doctors away. Is this cliché really that far away? Actually no; that statement is true. Everyone knows the importance of fruit in a balanced diet, but most people don't know how good it is for their health. Fruits not only help maintain good physical health but also provide benefits for good mental health. Fruit makes weight loss more efficient and boosts brain function. Eating a healthy amount of fruit improves your body's ability to lose weight. Fruit contains eighty percent water, just like the human body. This means that excess water weight is easily disposed of and the body absorbs only the nutrients. Fruit, 100% free of bad cholesterol, allows the heart to work more efficiently during physical activity or carrying out even simpler tasks and makes it easier to maintain a high level of activity to lose weight. Furthermore, fruit improves the ability to lose weight by ridding the body of waste materials. Five to nine pieces of fruit contain enough fiber to cover your daily value; among other things, the fiber facilitates the disposal of waste materials. After all, candy may be nice, but fruit helps poop (Why). Fruit helps the brain function to the best of its ability. Fruit contains natural sugars that most foods do not. Natural sugars help the brain work faster and remember information. Studies have been conducted that show that eating fruit helps improve test scores thanks to these natural sugars. Fruit requires less energy to digest and consume than some brain-blocking foods such as white flour and proteins and starches consumed together. To have enough energy to digest food, blood moves away from the brain and towards the abdomen inhibiting… half of the paper… day is healthy for the body in more ways than one.
