The legalization of gay marriage in America; not for homosexual people, but for all the people of America. Gay marriage should be legal in all 50 states, because the idea behind America is to guarantee every individual's freedom of choice, opinion and expression. Not only is it in many ways vaguely guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution, but laws against it also violate people's personal rights to religious freedom. The idea behind the founding of this nation is equality for all and the protection of individual belief rights. US laws are supposed to protect the rights of everyone as a whole, so that everyone has the freedom to express themselves, whatever that expression may be. Many disagree, due to the citation of Leviticus 18:22; “You shall not have intercourse with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.” Homosexuality is a sin according to Bible law. The United States is one nation under God, as stated in the oath. Legally practicing homosexuality would be a direct violation of the United States as a nation under God. It is also said to be wrong because it defeats the purpose of procreation; which is physically possible only between a man and a woman. This is also a theory stated in the Bible; “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.” (Genesis 1:28-29). This means that it is our duty as human beings to procreate. This is obviously something that a same-sex couple would not be able to do, thus failing to fulfill their responsibility clearly stated in the Bible. "From the beginning of creation, God created them male and female. Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother and cleave to his wife." (Mark 10:6-7); this biblical quote states that any true marriage is a marriage between a man and a woman. Allowing... middle of paper... against everyone else's moral beliefs. My belief is that no one's personal morals should be incorporated into the United States government as this contradicts the idea of a free America. I don't think laws should be passed to protect gay rights and expression, but to protect everyone's rights and expression. Anyone who wants to follow the morals of the Bible and the idea of marriage and natural procreation should absolutely be able to do so. And anyone who wants to have and practice moral beliefs that are opposite or in some way different from those established by the Bible. However, it is important for people to realize that everyone has opinions, and that some people are bound to have different opinions than other people around them. It is important to me that we can coexist while maintaining our opinions, some different and some the same as those of our fellow Americans.
