During the 1920s, there was growth in the United States economy. The people of the United States and its territories enjoyed a prosperous life, as the economy grew 7% per year between 1922 and 1927. During this period, also referred to as the "Roaring Twenties", high growth occurred economic with an increase in the standard of living of Americans. According to the textbook “Nation of Nations”, the reasons for economic expansion in the nineteenth century were due to the boom in the industrial sector after the First World War and high consumer spending. Along with improvements in the technology, construction and automotive sectors, electricity sales have doubled and fuel consumption has also doubled. People spent a lot of their money due to adequate jobs and falling prices of goods, with which money in the economy increased significantly. In the 1920s, improved technology contributed in part to the economic boom in the United States. It reduced the prices of consumer goods, manufacturing grew at a faster rate, and Americans saved less and spent more money. After the war there was a boom in the construction industry. Road and residential construction doubled and people moved from cities to the suburbs. America's business increased dramatically with the flourishing of the steel, marketing, cigarette and other business industries. The nation's capital was controlled by corporations rather than individuals. Furthermore, with the new scientific management, there was a good relationship between employees and managers, and workers were encouraged to buy shares of the company. Advertising was used to promote consumer goods based on consumer desires: health, population, and social status. Service facilities such as restaurants, stations and garages also developed. The lifestyle of Americans prospered as they were employed in new industries and received high wages. Additionally, there have been changes in technology, transportation, advertising, entertainment, and consumer spending.
