The company I decided to do my course project for was Fed-Ex. This company was incorporated on October 2, 1997. Fed-Ex provides numerous services such as FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, and FedEx services. FedEx Express offers a specified delivery time of one to three business days. However, FedEx Ground focuses on residential and business deliveries with packages up to 150 pounds. Additionally, FedEx Freight provides service to virtually all zip codes in the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii). Finally, FedEx Services provides numerous sales, markets, information technology and customer service services to other companies. FedEx offered its employees many benefits until the economy entered a recession. FedEx became the last company in 2008 to announce it would cut 401,000 employees to allow the company to save money. FedEx announced that employees will take a 5% pay cut and that their top managers will receive a 7.5-20% pay cut, with no pay increases for the following year. Thanks to this tragic decision that FedEx Corporation imposed on its workers, they are saving approximately $200 million in the remaining fiscal year and approximately $600 million in the following year. The workers were very upset by these decisions because they were not informed beforehand. FedEx is committed to providing an exceptional customer experience, being a great place to work, a thoughtful steward of the environment, and a caring citizen in the communities where we live and work. At FedEx, our passion is to sustainably connect people and places and improve quality of life around the world. For starters, the FedEx company workforce has over 290,000 employed team members. ...... half of the document ......w.businessweek.com/news/2010-06-25/delta-fedex-lose-ruling-over-union-organizing-update1-.htmlFedEx Ground – “ High turnover rate resulting from poor and tiring working conditions."
