I agree that our society has an obsession with technology, but that is not deteriorating human relationships. Education systems use technology to teach lessons. Online dating is the new way to meet other people; and social media is making us more aware of what's happening in the world. There are pros and cons to the technology, but the positives outweigh the negatives. Today's school systems are much more diverse than they were ten years ago, because of computers. Teachers are required to teach students the basic functions of a computer and how to use it correctly. “The use of computers and technology in classrooms has opened up a whole new method of effective teaching and learning. E-learning and online training have made it very easy and systematic for an individual to receive personal attention, so that all his specific needs are met” (Benefits). Using computers helps students engage in activities longer, retain important information, and learn critical thinking skills that can be used in the near future. It's also easier for teachers to communicate with parents via email. The lists of possibilities that computer technology has helped students are endless. The disadvantage of the computer is the lack of face-to-face interactions, but with new materials, students are learning from it and are expected to share that information with others. Social media will continue to grow, regardless of the negative opinions about it. The use of technology for education, dating, and social media has improved our society. It makes us communicate with each other in a different way. We are afraid of what technology could do to us, but it is only a matter of time before we adapt to it and consider it our conventional way of communicating.
