IntroductionThe following information is taken from a survey I conducted in which I surveyed fifty college students, half of whom were male and half of whom were female. The topic I studied was how much students use and rely on their cell phones. I chose to analyze this topic mainly because the number of cell phone users is constantly growing and has become a preferred mode of communication for university students. I hope to find out how much cell phones are used based on their prices and monthly plans. I would also like to see how much cell phones are used today compared to the home phone. As cell phones become more and more popular, it's almost strange to see a college student without his trusty cell phone by his side. Survey The survey I created included ten questions related to cell phone use. I asked questions like, “What phone method do you use” and “is this different from the method used in the summer?” These two questions are the basis of my investigation. I also mentioned how often students use their phones daily and the average length of a conversation. This will tell me how much college students rely on their cell phones and their need for this mode of communication. I also asked what cell phone plans students have and how much they pay monthly for cell phones. I can compare these two variables to find the best plan based on how much someone uses their phone. In conducting my research, I came across some issues regarding using a cell phone versus a home phone. As an avid cell phone user myself, I know I use a regular phone when I'm home for the summer because there is no service in my area. Lack of service puts a damper on the appeal of a cell phone, and I want to find out how much that impacts a college student's choice of phone use. Most college towns have near-perfect cell phone service, but when it comes time to return home for the summer, this method of communication may not be as convenient. Another problem I've encountered is that many college students don't know how much their phone plans cost. cost.
