Total Quality Management Total quality management has become a necessity in today's society for both businesses and consumers. The organization and consumers believe that quality is very important and will make or break an organization. Ensuring product quality helps eliminate liability that would arise from defective products and increases the rate of returning consumers. Companies are liable if their products are poorly manufactured and if they cause a disaster due to the use of their products. According to Achieving Quality Through Continuous Improvements, defines total quality management as: Total quality management is a holistic business management methodology that aligns the activities of all employees of an organization with the common goal of customer satisfaction from achieve through continuous improvement of the quality of all activities, processes, goods and services (1998). According to Wikipedia, it defines total quality management as:A management strategy aimed at incorporating awareness or quality into all organizational processes. TQM has been used extensively in the manufacturing, education, government, and service industries, as well as in NASA's space and science programs. Total Quality provides an umbrella under which all members of the organization can engage and create customer satisfaction. Total Quality is a people-centered management system that aims to continuously increase customer satisfaction at increasingly lower real costs (2006). Total Quality Management is the philosophy of managing organizations with a set of tools, policies and procedures that ensure quality production or services.
