One of the most important realizations I have made during my educational journey is the realization that I cannot memorize all content. For this reason, having easy access to the necessary resources is of great advantage. Knowing that there are varied and complex issues in health care ethics, below are seven websites to use as a reference: The World Health Organization (WHO) (http://www.who.int/ethics/ en/) is an important site because it provides data and statistics on topics that matter not only to the public health of US citizens, but to the health of the entire world. The website is packed with “fact sheets” that provide high-level information backed by data. Additionally, there is information on the many publications and programs offered by WHO. Additionally, there is information on bioethics topics including research, epidemics, long-term care, and organ/tissue transplants. This website would be important for a healthcare administrator to consult regularly as the world's healthcare problems will undoubtedly affect the community in which healthcare services are provided. The Center for Ethics and Advocacy in Healthcare (http://www.healthcare-ethics.org/about/) focuses on the individual and provides them with the tools needed to address complex ethical healthcare issues such as spirituality, family dynamics and symptom management. I especially liked the "Health Resources" tab which lists organizations interested in today's topics and issues. This website is important to the healthcare administrator because it focuses on meeting the needs of the individual.American Medical Association (AMA) (http://www.ama-assn.org//ama/pub/physician-resources/ medical-eth...... half of the document ...... reminding healthcare administrators of their duties and responsibilities to patients, organizations and the communities they serve. The website also features an “Ethics “Printable” toolkit that outlines steps to take when faced with difficult decisions. The website is ideal for the healthcare administrator who wants to stay connected to their colleagues via the network. The Hastings Center http://www.thehastingscenter .org/Default.aspx is a research-based organization dedicated to bioethics. Not all organizations are equipped to conduct clinical trials, but an astute healthcare administrator should stay current on medical advances to better serve the patient population.
