This was a challenge for me because I was used to using first or second person and contractions. As I crafted my rhetorical analysis and comparative essay, I had to remind myself that this was an academic article. For my rhetorical analysis, I sometimes ended up using the second person to try to explain how the audience connected with the author. I wasn't that bad with contractions in my rhetorical analysis. In comparative analysis, I tried to revise my essay to make sure there were no second persons or contractions. For my literacy narrative, I didn't have to worry about those things because they were about me and my past. Which was easier than rhetorical analysis and comparative analysis. However, as the semester went on I felt more confident about academic papers. I'm really starting to learn the difference between formal and informal writing
