There Should Be Limits on Abortion I don't think there should be any limitations on abortions. In my personal belief, the government should not tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body. If a woman decides to have a baby, the choice whether to keep it or not should be hers alone. Who is the government to tell a woman she cannot have an abortion or to impose restrictions on abortion? What's the next move: will they limit the number of children a woman can have like they do in China? Why stop at women regarding the kind of laws that will be put against men. With the patriotic law and our government spying on us, it is not enough to tell women about abortions. Was the women's movement of the 1970s meaningless if men keep telling women what to do? I wonder the next time they will give up the 19th amendment allowing women to vote. The government has way too much power over our lives. The Supreme Court's decision in Roe V. Wade made it possible for a woman to have an abortion. Before the decision, many women died performing illegal abortions because they could not have a legal one. Studies show that before Roe V. Wade there were many unwanted pregnancies in America. According to the New York Daily News article titled “People Are OK with Abortion,” a staggering 89% of people agree that the government should not place limits on abortions. Another survey shows that 1% of all abortions occur due to rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur due to potential health problems of the mother or child. According to the Center for Bioethical Reform website, many women have abortions for life-or-death purposes. The government wants citizens to believe that they have abortions because it is legal and women take advantage of it. There are many facts and data that support that women should have abortions, regardless of their circumstances. According to the Center for Bioethical Reform, an estimated 43 percent of all women will have at least one abortion before age 45. 47% of all abortions are performed on women who have had at least one previous abortion.
