The importance of academic freedomWhat is academic freedom? Some might say, but in reality without even knowing it, anyone with a social media profile is proof that academic freedom is alive and well. Academic freedom gives everyone the right to express their opinions in speech, writing and communication without fear of prosecution, unless the rights of others are violated. There are many elements of academic freedom such as; principles of academic freedom, electronic communication and academic freedom, the opposing side's reasons for not wanting academic freedom. To understand academic freedom you need to understand its principles. Since the beginning of time people have wanted to question certain things they didn't agree with but couldn't for fear of punishment. The key principles of academic freedom are the nature and purpose that is academic freedom respecting the rights of students and teachers that creates an educational context that promotes learning, development and original research. Freedom of belief means that everyone has the right to believe what they believe and to maintain or change their beliefs as they see fit. Schools can grade you based on your knowledge of their beliefs, but they cannot lower your grade based on your disagreement with their beliefs. Schools should encourage everyone to pursue their own interests and ideas. Investigation should not be censored by limiting access to controversial topics. Everyone has the right to express their opinions privately and publicly without fear of punishment. Parents have the right to discuss their views with their children and to communicate with the school if they do not agree with what the school teaches. Academic freedom and free speech are…half of paper…yeah, being someone with a political agenda trying to stop people from saying something they don't want to hear or letting someone else hear it. conclusion academic freedom is very important and, like freedom of speech and freedom of the press, it is our right to be able to say, write or research whatever interests us as students. Electronic communication will not disappear, it will simply disappear. become more and more popular thanks to social media. There are people of all ages on social media, from the old to the very young. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't have an opinion. As long as you express your objection correctly and educationally, they can't blame you for it. Political agendas should be kept out of the classroom. If someone says you have to think this way, tell them they are wrong and that you have the right to think however you want.
