Eudora Alice Welty spent virtually her entire life living in Mississippi. Mississippi is the setting for many of his stories and books. Most of his stories are set in Mississippi because he focuses on the ways of the people who live in a small town in Mississippi. Writing about the lives of the people of Mississippi is one of the main reasons Welty is a well-known author. Welty's stories are based on how humans interact in social encounters. It focuses on women's situations and consciousness. Another thing he focuses on more is insulation. In almost all of Welty's early stories the main character is always isolated. A hidden message is always evident in his stories. Eudora Welty does an excellent job of exposing social biases in the form of buried messages. Eudora Welty was born on April 13, 1909 in Jackson, Mississippi. Painting and photography were his first interests. He lived in Jackson with his two brothers, Edward and Walter, and his two parents. His mother was a teacher and his father an insurance executive. Welty's father was from Ohio and his mother from West Virginia. Welty lived in his childhood home for most of his life. She leaves for two years to attend the Mississippi State College for Women. After spending several years at the University of Wisconsin and a year in New York City. While in New York City, Welty studied advertising at Columbia University's business school. His father's death brought Welty home for a while. She began writing when she returned home after her father's death. He wrote about Jackson's social scene for the Memphis, Tennessee, newspaper. She was also an advertising agent for the Works Progress Administration in rural Mississ......middle of paper......author.Although Eudora Alice Welty's work is sometimes compared to that of Faulkner or Poe. She is by far not that unusual. Throughout his life Welty discovered the secret of how people treat others. He took a simple topic and turned it into a growing topic. He took the problem of isolation and made his readers aware of it. The way he writes makes his readers stop and think about the topic. An underlying message is constantly woven into the pages of his stories. Eudora Welty proved that no matter how alone one might feel in a world of people, there is always someone there or something worth fighting for. Whether it's a slave fighting for freedom, a person who wants to commit suicide realizing they will miss him, or even just someone trying to find a place in this world. Therefore isolation has a great influence in Eudora Welty's writing.
