One reason is that our society keeps babies in a very protective shell and that many people can relate to or emphasize the loss of a baby. Another reason is that this decision or these actions represent life or death for someone who cannot make that decision for themselves. Neonatal resuscitation is usually not the same as treatment for adults. Newborns need assistance with breathing and strengthening the heartbeat rather than restarting the heart. Depending on the length of resuscitation efforts and how long the newborn is not breathing, it could cause more harm than good. It could cause more harm due to potential brain or organ damage that may have occurred during resuscitation due to lack of oxygen. The legal system must also carefully address neonatal resuscitation because each case is different and cannot be treated like the previous one. It is difficult to draw clear lines on the subject of someone's life. The argument can easily turn into a sticky situation if that was the best decision for everyone involved due to the consequences if a single wrong move was
