John Quincy Adams had a great influence on the history of the United States. John Quincy took part in more important events and held more important positions than any person in the history of the United States. Some of the notable positions he held were as an American minister to four different European countries (The Hague, Prussia, Russia, and England), a state senator representing Massachusetts, a peace negotiator in England, a member of the House of Representatives, secretary of state and President of the United States. John Quincy followed in the footsteps of his father, John Adams, when he became president of the United States, but both father and son failed to secure their second presidential terms. Although he had many successes, he considered himself a disappointment. He achieved a lot during his career, but he also had some downfalls and failures during his career. John Quincy wasn't the most beloved person in the country, but he stood up for what he thought and what he believed. There was a time early in John Quincy Adams' career, when he was a senator, when the careers of many senators would have ended. because they did not follow the thoughts of their voters.
