Comparison of intergenerational values Robbins & Judge (2011) states that by comparing the values of each generation you will see that traditionalists are people who work hard and are loyal to their organization, while Baby Boomers are loyal only to their career. The other two generations have completely different values in the sense that they are true to themselves and relationships. Generation X and Millennials love being part of a team, but this is where they grow apart. Generation X values flexibility so they can balance work and life, while Millennials consider themselves rich or famous. While Baby Boomers place great importance on achievement and success, Generation X is unwilling to make personal sacrifices for the sake of their employer. Family and relationships have a higher value than the organization (p. 148-150). As Boomers and Traditionalists retire from the workforce, human resource managers must ensure that the workforce has trained those who remain aware of these two groups, otherwise they will be forced to hire some part-time consultants (Robbins & Judge 2011 p. 150).
