I say this because we Americans get an inch and want a mile. This means that we are never satisfied with anything. So yes, there will be people who are perfectly fine with the amount of technology we have. While others just want bigger and better things. So the problem in the movie is that Will believes there should be more technology, while Max is trying to figure out whether more technology is a good thing. So their aim was to show that we love technology so much that we are blind to what might actually happen. We just want more, but when we get more, we won't know what to do. So they showed how it is not possible to have a computer with self-awareness that is beneficial to people. It also showed the difficulty of not having any technology. Many people only carry their debit cards with them, so when Max caused a blackout, many people had no cash and couldn't afford anything, they were all broke. It was almost as if the world we lived in wasn't the same world
