The role of a preceptor is to lay the foundation of a student nurse's nursing career leading to an expert level of nursing (Benner, 2013). Preceptor programs have been developed to fill nursing shortages and help alleviate the difficulties of a newly hired nurse. An appropriate learning environment for both the preceptor and student nurse must include support staff members and supervisors, patience, motivation, and passion on the part of the preceptor. The role of preceptor requires encouragement and determination. Preceptors play an important role in mentoring nursing students; improves job satisfaction and job retention. Preceptorship programs deserve your utmost attention and hard work, as they are the foundation of the future
