Even at such low prices you would think “How could they make money? When everything costs so much?" Well, they found a way to make money, but they had their ups and downs, like any business. Steve and Barry's is a great company and will be around for a long time. Steve and Barry's was founded by two guys named Steve Shore and Barry Prevor. They saw that college students had to pay $40.00 for school sweatshirts and thought they could do better. Steve and Barry recognized that there was a huge opportunity and yes set to work to identify a solution. The result of all that research and development was Steve and Barry's College Sportswear. Since then their motto has been: "Offering the largest selection of high-quality graphics and apparel , all at prices substantially lower than those previously available in college bookstores" (Steve and Barry's University Sportswear 1). They began this business on Long Island, New York, traveling to flea markets around New York. They opened their first store in 1985 at the University of Pennsylvania. The store was a great success and many opened later. They opened their first store in a strip mall in 1998 near Detroit, Michigan.
